Nate Schlachter is the Executive Director of the Food Trade Sustainability Leadership Association (FTSLA). FTSLA focuses on research, education and collaborative problem-solving across the organic food supply-chain to develop innovative sustainable models. Nate has worked within the food industry in a variety of capacities. As owner/operator of a Great Harvest Bread Company, Nate utilized his entrepreneurial drive to implement sustainable sourcing practices while growing his small business. Prior to joining FTSLA, Nate served as an Outside Sales Representative for GloryBee Foods, Inc, where he worked closely with retailers, manufacturers, farmers and distributors, to provide expert advice, opinion and service regarding organic and natural raw ingredients.
Nate holds an MBA in Sustainable Business from the Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI). He has served on the BGI Board of Trustees since 2009, currently as the Secretary to the Board. Nate also volunteers with a youth social entrepreneurship organization, training the next generation of change makers. Nate lives in Portland, Oregon with his partner, Dayspring, and daughter, Simone, where they enjoy the many farmers markets, food carts, and bike paths that the city offers.

As Director of Membership Development and Education, Nicole is responsible for advising members, developing educational resources to drive performance measurement and continuous improvement, educating the broader organic food trade to catalyze wider change and implementing FTSLA's communication activities.
Nicole grew up in the wilds of Northern British Columbia, where she developed a passion for people and the environment. She also consults on sustainability for PrAna, where she was previously Director of Social Responsibility, addressing corporate and supply chain social and environmental impacts. Prior to joining prAna Nicole was Social Responsibility Manager at Patagonia, where she championed and integrated social and environmental responsibility into sourcing and production, and worked with factories to improve labor and working conditions. Nicole's career has focused on driving sustainability into the internal operations of a brand and throughout the supply chain. Additionally she has been involved with various stakeholder initiatives, including the Outdoor Industry's Eco Index, Fair Trade USA, Textile Exchange and the Fair Labor Association (past board member). Nicole received her Master's in Environmental Studies with a focus on Business Strategy and Sustainability from York University in Toronto, Canada.
